What is Chartered Physiotherapy?
Chartered Physiotherapy is a health care profession that provides treatment for individuals to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function whilst reducing pain throughout life. This includes providing treatment in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by injury, disease, ageing or environmental factors.
Chartered Physiotherapists combine their knowledge and skills to create an approach which improves a broad range of physical problems associated with different 'systems' of the body including muscular, joints, neurological, and respiratory. People are often referred for physiotherapy by doctors or other health care professionals.
However, as a result of changes in the health care system and the increasing length of waiting times, people are referring themselves directly to Physiotherapists without previously seeing any other health care professional.
